Around 1887, a local magistrate who owned one of the first Stock and Station supplies in Yass built the residence at 36 Grampian Street known as 'Wadden Lodge'. The house is complemented by its position as part of a line of similarly aged residences.

Years ago, the original owner trained the vine’s trunk to create a retaining wall at the front boundary. Lilac and wisteria put on a magnificent display along the veranda every spring. The veranda deck is rough cut iron wood, rarely seen now days.

The 'boys room' was originally used by the house-maid who scratched her name on the glass window and dated it 1898. A vacant block on the western side and another at the rear provide privacy and a sense of space. There is a chicken run, the old stable, wood shed, and small tool shed.
